ABOUT ME

If you asked me a year ago what I would be doing with my life, this would not be it. I was a city girl working in the corporate world, living my perfectly modern life in my perfectly modern apartment. I loved the hustle and bustle, the influx of people in and out of my life, the noise, the grit, and the perk of having dozens of restaurants all within walking distance.

And then it all changed.

It’s amazing, thrilling, and frightening all that has happened within a single year: I left my corporate job, moved to a new city (which isn’t really a city at all but a quaint little college town surrounded by farmland), got married, and bought a perfectly perfect old home (circa 1918). This sudden onset of newness must have turned my taste preference topsy turvy because suddenly, I had a penchant for all things old; my modern style flew (or was thrown?) right out the window. I was now surrounded by a bucolic lifestyle, living in a small town, in an old home, and I loved it!

Who knew?

So here I am, one year later, living a passion that I never knew existed: I’ve opened my own online vintage shop, am working toward opening a physical retail shop, and heck, I’ve even started a blog! This is my story about a city girl living a country life, and loving every minute of it.

    • Thanks so much! I love reading about your travels. I lived in Germany years ago and visit Switzerland often – it’s so beautiful over there, isn’t it?! And Christmas…it’s so different than the over-commercialized Christmas you get here in the US! I miss it terribly. Look forward to reading more – you’ll find your way back to your “just right” soon πŸ™‚

  1. Hi there! Happy to find a great blog close to home. Moved to Cville for the same reason not too long ago and dont regret a minute of it πŸ™‚

  2. Found you on Truth and Cake (although technically, I think you found me) and I have to tell you Kristen, I just LOVE the look of your blog! It’s gorgeous! I’m so looking forward to exploring πŸ™‚

  3. Only had a brief look through after stumbling on the blog by chance whilst searching for dining table inspiration… really enjoyed the mix between food, travel, party planning, ‘modage’ furniture with a smidge of motivational oomph. Will definitely visit again next time the kids are gracious enough to give me the time to and I’m not engrossed in my own novice project πŸ˜‰ PS welcome to mommydom!

    • Anita, thank you, thank you! I received your comment just as I was a bit down in the dumps about maintaining my blog. I took a bit of a hiatus to focus on my Little, but comments like yours gave me the motivation to really find the time to stick with this blog. I hope your kiddos are gracious enough to give you a little time to work on that dining table and I would love to hear more about it!
